RDI network (now OSMIUM) has been selected as one of the four finalists of My Galileo Solution in the area of cybersecurity to take from the idea to the concept development of Crowdthentic, an efficient, cost-effective and scalable GNSS interference alerting and source of interference localization.
GNSS signals are widely used and current solutions for detecting intentional interference to them use costly professional equipment and are limited to small areas. Crowdthentic collaboratively and securely uses data generated by mobile and loT devices that, on a remuneration basis, allow for scalable crowdsourced GNSS interference detection, which guided by statistics, is able to both reduce false alarms and localise attackers benefitting law enforcement to act quickly in a reduced area.
The project counts with the endorsement and support of AlfaEvolution, subsidiary of UNIPOL Group (Italy), a reference in insurance telematics in Europe and worldwide, with more than four million GNSS-enabled devices owned by the company and deployed throughout Italy. Moreover, the company owns and controls the central servers that collect the information coming from all the field devices.
